H&D Sponsors Dental Care Workshop in Managua

April 2010: The Lunderville family from Suamico, Wisconsin was back in Nicaragua in April, 2010. Because of the success of the dental care programs they gave to Villa El Carmen schools last August, Hope and Development invited them to give a similar presentation to children at the Cinafe orphanage in Managua.

Brock and Karla Lunderville and their two daughters, Alexis and Aubrey, spent a day with the children at Cinafe. With donated supplies and Spanish posters created by Alexis, they explained about plaque and demonstrated the proper way to brush and to use dental floss.

All of the children and the supervisors at the orphanage were given two toothbrushes and several tubes of toothpaste, along with packages of dental floss.

The idea of regular brushing and flossing was new to many of the children, highlighting the need for this program among Nicaragua’s youth. The Foundation is hopeful that the eager reception the Lundervilles have received will encourage more dentists and dental supply companies to provide samples and materials for future workshops.
